Who am I?

I go by kasettetape (He/Him) on pretty much every platform, but you can call me Kasey. I'm 32 and work as a professional freelance artist - sometimes for animated shorts or TV.

Since the animation industry blew up on itself, I've decided to go back to school where I am working towards a Biology degree! My main interests are in ichthyology, ecology and fisheries science.

I am also working part time as an biology tutor and animal caretaker where I help look after saltwater and freshwater fish, snakes, and other reptiles and amphibians.

Hobbies

Drawing

For the most part I draw digitally, but I've been known to pick up oils, watercolors or gouache from time to time. I know everyone says it, but I really need to get back into keeping a sketchbook - I just find it super difficult for some reason.

Video Games

I don't play games often anymore, and when I do I obsess for about 2 weeks or a month and put it down again. It's partly due to adult responsibilities and partly due to changing interests. Some games I like in no partiicular order:

Hiking/Running

I am super outdoorsy and am up for a hike just about any time, anywhere! My goal right now is to accumulate enough gear for an overnight trip.
I've also taken up running recently and am training for a 5k in February!

Softball/Baseball

When I am able to, I play for my city in a queer softball league. The team I end up on always changes but we took regionals in 2024! I play centerfield and am usually lead-off hitter or clean-up. I love baseball and going to see games!! My favorite teams are the Dodgers, Yankees and Orioles.

Coding

I've been on the internet since the 90s,and playing around with code since roughly 2004. At the time I was a horse kid, so I really liked the OG Horseland site - mostly because everyone was designing crazy layouts for their pages. So that's where I started using HTML. Later on I picked up CSS on DeviantArt coding journals etc.
